Don’t get me wrong, galavanting to different European cities by plane and train is as easy as 1,2,3…and cheap too. But planes and trains can only get you so far, or to so many places. Unless you know a local with a car, traveling to locations that most tourist are completely unaware of is a complete bonus, almost like a bragging right. Yet, it also allows you discover more of a region, or country and really see how real life goes on.
So Danielle and I, towards then end of our Summer 2017 European Escapades, rented a car from Alicante and headed west, to the Andalusia region of Spain (home to Granada). We were looking at airbnbs and saw the cutest place in a small Pueblo Blanco in the mountains called Sedella. About an hour north of the coast through winding mountain roads, Sedella is your typical small town in Spain where everyone knows everyone and stores and events happen when the people want them to happen, not at a certain time. Oh, and as our airbnb host told us, if we wanted fresh bread or fish, the bread man and fish man both drove past in the morning to sell locals their products…LIKE WHAT?!
But anyway, our mini road trip was one of the highlights of the whole trip for me. We got to explore small towns all through the mountains, see a resovior with bright blue water, and hang by the coast in a small local fishing village. Everything about it was perfect. All I can say is that if you ever have the chance, rent a car and go out and explore…especially this area of Spain, just see for yourself below:
