Why You Should Travel With Your Best Friend

You discover new cultures, travel to unexplored parts of the world, all to create sweet memories that you take home with you and that live on forever. Nothing is sweeter than travel. Especially with the people you love. And one of the people it’s the sweetest with? Your best friend.

They are the person you laugh the hardest with, the person who is your shoulder to cry on when your heart is broken, the one who makes stupid decisions with you and can’t judge any of your actions because they have probably done something worse. We all have that one person who is our person and who is better than them to see the world with?

As I write this, I am currently in my favorite city in the world, Rome. What is so significant about this? By best friend, and co-founder of The Nomadic Dreamers, is here with me.

Surprisingly, this is our first trip out of the country together. It somehow took us 21 years (yes we have been friends from the literal moment I was born) to do so. But better late then never and the memories have already began.

I got to celebrate turning 21 in one of the most beautiful cities with my best friend by my side. We got to drink champagne, proceeded by wine as we stuffed our faces in sinfully delicious pasta, walked through my favorite neighborhood of Rome, Trastevere, and bar hopped as we drank too many types of alcohol to count and drank a beer as we stood on a bridge over the Tiber River looking out as the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica glowed in the distance. With our boyfriends following behind, we got to celebrate my birthday and our first international trip together in style. I have countless photos (some blurrier than others because hey, it was my 21st), but most importantly, a shit ton of memories and our trip has just began.

What I am trying to get across is, your best friend is the person who understands you the most. Experiencing a whole other world with them is something spectacular that I can’t even begin to describe. They make the time you spend traveling 10x better than it already is. Whether it be stuffing your faces with too much food and drinks, getting lost together  in unfamiliar places and half freaking out but half laughing about it (after the fact of course), and to gazing at some of the worlds most beautiful places and sites and just giving each other that look of “holy crap is this real life right now?”.

A few other reasons?

-You get to fulfill dreams together like scuba diving in the indian ocean, riding a camel in the Sahara Desert, etc.

-They have the patience to get that picture perfect photo of you (because they expect the same in return) *very important for the female best friends obviously

-Trip planning is breeze because you guys are similar enough, that in the end, you won’t be fighting over whether to spend the day exploring a village near by or spending it at the beach doing absolutely nothing.

Like MasterCard would say, that trip to Thailand with your best friend? Two months pay, the memories you’ve gained? Priceless
